Daan

daan photoBorn somewhere in the last century, and rode a 50cc moped for 18.000km’s through the bad Dutch weather throughout my teen years (a Puch MV50 from 1974 which I completely restored – and completely trashed too….) but life started in 2004 when I got my drivers license for a motorcycle in The Netherlands.

I bought a bike a day before that actually, a 1996 Honda XRV750 Africa Twin with 42.000km’s on it. That bike is now stored in The Netherlands with 165.000km’s on it.

My love, Mirjam, also rides.

And is just as addicted to adventure motorcycling as I am. (Am I a blessed man?)

She also got herself a Honda Africa Twin which now has 189.000km’s on it – because we rode both bikes around the world in 2011/2012 hitting 5 continents and 34 countries on a 74.300 km trip.

By then, The Netherlands was too paved for us and we moved to Alberta, Canada. Pretty soon we bought ourselves two Suzuki DRZ 400’s and started riding off-road mainly in the Rocky Mountains and anything that is unpaved nearby. Back lanes can be an awesome 2 minute playground if needed.

To improve skills and explore the world of horsepower and lightweight front wheels we bought ourselves a 2-stroke KTM 300 XC-W and played around on that for half a year.

This bike was sold to make space for the Wanduro 530 EXC which we both enjoy a lot – it is only a matter of time before Mirjam gets herself a nice Wanduro 450 EXC or something similar.

I guess the above summarizes our lifestyle and vision pretty well. We just love motorcycles, love the outdoors and by combining these two things we wander around on our bikes a lot and have a good time!
